Tends to fleet alot between DJs on quality of the music. At least the playlists not the sane top 15 songs done to death like others

It's live for big weekend at the moment, pretty cool in my book. They've got a good line up.

Radio 1 do have some good music playlists which I often check out on their website when I want to download some music. I originally listened to Red Dragon Radio which was pretty good until Capital FM took it over and then it went downhill fast. So I retuned to Radio 1 which had some really presenters but when they ditched Chris Moyles, whose show I loved, and replaced him with that cringe-ingly awful Nick Grimshaw, I ditched them. So then I changed to Real Radio, which has just been taken over by Heart FM but still pretty cool listening.

I just can't stand his voice or his type of humour. I avoided his tv show like the plague.

Radio one used to be good RIP john peel. i do like some of the late night stuff they play, but during the day is a sadistic nightmare, i think now they really cater for the youth, or it could be that i just think alot of todays music is hidious with no personality , almost like a production line of drab uninteresting uninpiring tripe.

Im more inclined to listen to stuff that never hits the charts,

They got rid of Chris moyles and replaced him to cater for a younger audience. They didn't hide this, it's ssomething they wanted to do to counter capital radio taking all the younger listeners. shame really, but I can see why they did this. They moved all the older djs to radio 2.

In the Dales we have Drystone Radio. Its logo is a cairn with a transmitter on the top: looks as though a hyperactive flock of blackface sheep might bring the whole edifice tumbling down. Enough said.

I find one of the best radio stations is Radio 6, or if your listening to internet radio, try Arrow, fantastic rock station and no chat or ads.

Not necessarily its for anyone who wants to listen to the music by todays artists and moves with the times instead of living in the past. Yesterday has gone and is a memory. Yeah by all means listen to the kind of music you like but don't dismiss modern music until you've listened to it. There is good and bad music in every era.

Unfortunately most of the interesting higher quality stuff on Radio 1 is not on during peak times or "drive time" etc.

Most of the peak time stuff is tripe.

I wouldn't know about Radio 1 to be honest, but guess it's probably a bit boring and samey. Give yourselves a treat and tune in to Radio 3 and listen to 3Breakfast from 6.30 to 9am. Fabulous and varied music, news snippets, witty banter. No better way to start the day !

And to end the day? Try ClassicFM after 10pm.

Quite funny how Chris Moyles is still missed by so many listeners. He brought something special to the morning show. I'm sure his show would have worked on Radio 2, but the problem would have been where ?

I was a massive Radio 1 fan in the day, but stopped after they gave Moyles the push. I even tried Grimmy for a couple of weeks, but no more. He tries too hard. And besides, who wants to listen to him rant on about 'One Direction' all the time.

I read sometime back, that Moyles was on about starting his own show, to be aired on the web.

Anyway, no more Radio 1 for me.

I dip into Local Radio now and then, but i get fed up of the same songs over and over, DJ's trying to be funny. It just doesn't work.

'Thanks to all the fish'

Galvanised stomachs up north...

My favourite from UCP shops was elder - it was sliced cow's udder, a lovely yellowy colour with red flecks in it, and very tasty cold with salad and bread and butter.

Long gone from sale, sadly...

I listened to Radio 1 for as long as I can remember but switched to Radio 2 when all the Boom Boom music started. Now it's Radio 2 all day everyday, until 7pm, it can get a bit crap then unless there's a good interview on.
