Are there any Narrowboaters/Canalboaters on this site?

What a nice way to travel and see the countryside.

A slow pace, more up have a good session then move on to your next stop.

"next stop" = "a good session"

A group of us [all straight except me] hired a narrowboat for a week in the early '80s. Fantastic holiday meandering along canals and stopping off at pubs. I loved it but some of the others thought it boring. Wouldn't mind doing it again. Seriously thought of buying a narrowboatbut they can be quite high maintenance.

It all depends who is with you on your narrow boat as it can be hard work especially if your muggins and capable of doing the locks and bridges etc.

Cost of a boat as you say is quite high as you need time to go places to stop you seeing the same things and places all the time as I remember from when friends had a share in one. You was always going over some of the same are and had to allow time to get back for changeover day again.

Yes, me! Based on River Soar but spend loads of time out cruising (both meanings!).

I must admit I fancy it, looks really nice, gentle, pleasant, relaxing. Especially if the cat can come as ships cat, out of my purse range sadly.

My retirement plan involves living on a narrow boat and cruising the waterways, looking for a handsome sailor

I live on a narrow boat in East London on a residential mooring near the Limehouse Cut, near the Olympic Park.

Absolutely adore the lifestyle. There's something magical about being on the water.

Only thing is space is at a premium and its a close knit community, hence me playing at saunas.

I suppose that’s what to expect for London, and pretty much every marina worth visiting. It’s the slow pace of traveling that appeals to me
